AMLA to Hold Public Hearing on Two Draft RTS

The Authority for Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AMLA) will hold a public hearing on 24 March 2026 on two draft Regulatory Technical Standards (RTS) developed under the EU’s new AML framework.

The hearing will focus on the following two draft RTS under Regulation (EU) 2024/1624 (AMLR):

1. Draft RTS on criteria for identifying business relationships, occasional transactions and linked transactions, and lower thresholds, developed under Article 19(9) of the AML Regulation, this RTS aims to clarify how obliged entities should determine when a business relationship exists, how occasional and linked transactions should be identified, and when lower thresholds for customer due diligence measures may apply.

1. Draft RTS on Customer Due Diligence (CDD), developed under Article 28(1) of the AML Regulation, this RTS specifies how obliged entities should apply customer due diligence, including the information and documentation that must be collected when verifying customers and beneficial owners.

The public hearing will take place online in two sessions:

• 10:00 – 12:00 CET – RTS on business relationships, occasional and linked transactions
• 13:30 – 15:30 CET – RTS on Customer Due Diligence

The consultation period is open until 8 May 2026, providing financial institutions, non-financial obliged entities, and other stakeholders the opportunity to submit feedback before the standards are finalised.

These RTS represent an important step toward harmonising AML/CFT requirements across the EU and providing clearer guidance on the practical application of key AML obligations.
