GOWISE collects personal information through our Registration Form, primarily to facilitate your participation in GOWISE Academy training programs. We may also, with your explicit consent, contact you about future training sessions and relevant events. The specific information we gather depends on the type of training you select.

Online training and Webinars

For online training and webinar participation, we collect personal information including your full name, surname, contact information (such as phone number and email address), and, where applicable, financial details necessary for processing payments. We ensure this information is handled with the highest level of security and confidentiality. If an online live training or webinar will be recorded by GOWISE tutor, participants are informed in advance. By participating, you consent to the recording of audio contributions, presentations, interactive discussions, and any materials exchanged. This includes chat transcripts and responses to polls or exercises.

Where online trainings and webinars are subsidized by external authorities, participants are required to enable their cameras to meet interactivity and tracking requirements.

The personal information provided to us by you, will not be used for any other purpose, other than the purposes mentioned above.

Recorded Seminars

Access to recorded seminars requires similar data collection as Online training and webinars. This information is used solely for providing access and verifying participation.

Legal Basis for Processing Personal Data

General Data Protection Regulation allows us to process personal information, as long as we have a legal ground under the law to do so. It also requires us to tell you what those grounds are. As a result, when we process your personal information, we will rely on the following processing condition(s):

  • The lawful basis we rely on for processing your personal data is your consent under article6(1)(a) of the GDPR;
  • Performance of a contract: this is when the processing of your personal information is necessary in order to perform our obligations towards you;
  • Legitimate interests: we will process information about you where it is in our legitimate interest in running a lawful business to do so in order to further that business, so long as it doesn’t outweigh your interests.

  • disclose personal information to the Human Resource Development Authority of Cyprus (HRDA) in order to receive any subsidy offered, when it’s applicable.

Your legal rights in relation to your personal data

  • Obtain confirmation as to whether we process personal data about you, receive a copy of your personal data and obtain certain other information about how and why we process your personal data;
  • The right to request for your personal data to be amended or rectified where it is inaccurate (for example, if you change your address) and to have incomplete personal data completed;
  • The right to delete your personal data in the following cases:
  • the personal data is no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected and processed;
  • our legal ground for processing is consent, you withdraw consent and we have no other lawful basis for the processing;
  • our legal ground for processing is that the processing is necessary for legitimate interests pursued by us or a third party, you object to the processing and we do not have overriding legitimate grounds;
  • you object to processing for direct marketing purposes;
  • your personal data has been unlawfully processed; or
  • your personal data must be erased to comply with a legal obligation to which we are subject.
  • The right to restrict personal data processing in the following cases:
  • for a period enabling us to verify the accuracy of personal data where you contested the accuracy of the personal data;
  • your personal data have been unlawfully processed and you request restriction of processing instead of deletion;
  • your personal data are no longer necessary in relation to the purposes for which they were collected and processed but the personal data is required by you to establish, exercise or defend legal claims; or
  • for a period enabling us to verify whether the legitimate grounds relied on by us override your interests where you have objected to processing based on it being necessary for the pursuit of a legitimate interest identified by us.
Your legal rights in relation to your personal data
  • The right to object to the processing of your personal data in the following cases:
  • your legal ground for processing is that the processing is necessary for a legitimate interest pursued by us or a third party; or • our processing is for direct marketing purposes.
  • The right to data portability.
  • The right to receive your personal data provided by you to us and the right to send the data to another organisation (or ask us to do so if technically feasible) where our lawful basis for processing the personal data is consent or necessity for the performance of our contract with you and the processing is carried out by automated means.
  • The right to withdraw consent where we process personal data based on consent, individuals have a right to withdraw consent at any time. We do not generally process personal data based on consent (as we can usually rely on another legal basis). Please note that withdrawing consent does not affect the legality of processing done before the withdrawal.

GOWISE does not require sensitive personal data

GOWISE does not require collection of sensitive personal information. Sensitive personal information (also known as special category personal information) includes, without limitation, information about a person’s racial or ethnic origin; political opinions; religious or philosophical beliefs; trade union membership; physical or mental health condition; criminal convictions and sexual life or sexual orientation. Please do not provide this kind of information or similarly sensitive information as part of registration on GOWISE web-site. If you do provide this kind of information the act of doing so constitutes your consent for the processing of that information if necessary and in accordance with this privacy statement.

Security

GOWISE has reasonable security policies and procedures in place to protect personal information from unauthorized loss, misuse, alteration or destruction. We have a framework of policies and procedures in place covering data protection, confidentiality and security and regularly review the appropriateness of the measures we have in place to keep the data we hold secure.

Although we use appropriate security measures once we have received your personal data, the transmission of data over the Internet (including by email) is never completely secure. We endeavour to protect personal data, but we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted electronically over the Internet.
